On May 9, 2025, a meeting was held with organizations defending the rights of Roma and Egyptian communities in Albania to discuss the implementation of Council of Ministers Decision No. 843, dated December 26, 2024, which sets procedures for identifying members of national minorities. The discussion highlighted that delays in establishing the commission to review ethnic self-declarations are preventing communities from accessing social support measures and exposing them to further marginalization. It was decided to take urgent advocacy steps with the Ministry of Interior and send an official letter requesting the creation of the commission, aiming to guarantee the rights of marginalized communities and ensure equal implementation of the law.
